Drought and Water Consciousness

We are experiencing a drought where I live in the South East of England and in other parts of the UK. A dry summer last year followed by an exceptionally dry autumn and winter has caused the water shortage.

On the New Lunar Year I wrote a blog about 2012 being a year of Power and how this related to the symbol of the Chinese Dragon (water and weather). I know through experience that consciousness has a direct effect on the weather. In my Shamanic ceremonies, the weather always responds and I have learned so much by working and co-creating with the weather elementals. Later today I will perform a rain ceremony to understand and assist.

Since the publication of Dr Emoto’s book, ‘The Messages from Water,’ many have awakened to the knowledge that water and consciousness is related at a deep level.   Through water crystal technology, it has been proven that water responds to loving positive thoughts. Our bodies are made up of 60 – 70 % water and so it follows that our thoughts should always try to be those of self-appreciation, love and gratitude.

By blessing our drinking water and food, we are making a conscious intent to higher its vibration so as it becomes a part of our body it is filling us with loving energy to nourish us on all levels. Placing bottles of water or food on pieces of paper or labelling them with words such as ‘love’ or ‘gratitude’ also raises their vibrational frequency.

The understanding of the effect of human consciousness on water led me to write the book ‘Oceans Calling’ for children. Whenever I am at a beach, lake or river, I spend time blessing the water knowing that this is making a positive difference. During the height of the US Gulf of Mexico oil spill last year, I joined a group of likeminded people in helping to minimise the damage and rejuvenate the water. Every morning I placed a fresh glass of water on a drawing representing the ocean. Over the course of the first week, each time I came to change the water I noticed that it contained a green algae like substance and then gradually this manifestation ceased. This was physical confirmation that the water on my altar was connecting to the ocean and responding to the loving intentions of the group prayer.

When more of humanity learns to live in gratitude and love for our Mother Earth, then we can co-create heaven on earth. Until then, every little stone of wisdom we cast into the water creates a positive long lasting ripple of positive change.

Colouring Competition

Thank you to all parents, grandparents and children who attended the Frog's Tale workshops on Wednesday. Due to demand, we were happy to run a third session later in the afternoon. There were some fabulous stories written by the children and many wonderful  ponds created.

On Thursday, it was wonderful to meet all the children and parents at my book signing event at Waterstones. Many children entered the Colouring Competition and the entries were of a high standard. There were two age categories, (3-6 and 7-10). The competition was judged by an artist who was impressed by the use of both watercolour paints and crayon on many of the pictures. The winning pictures can be found on the 'Prize Winners' Page.

Congratulations to Lucy Harcus, age 9, from Hythe.

Congratulations to Jessica Howland, age 6, from Canterbury.

I hope you both enjoy your prize of a family day out at Wildwood.

I will be at Waterstones Book Shop, Canterbury during the Easter holidays on Friday, 13th April with more fun story telling and children's activities.

Snow Moon

The moon will be full tomorrow, 7th February, at 21.59 GMT. This moon is known as the Snow Moon and we are experiencing a wonderful synchronisation here with a rich blanket of snow covering the countryside.

This Full moon is in Leo, a sign of fire and passion. Favourable for romantic love and relationships but with the Aquarius energy present, then quite possibly some people may be prone to overheating and drama.

I am a Piscean and benefitting from the winter’s aqueous blanket around my home. I have loved standing in my garden listening to nature's silence, hearing only the trees whisper from time to time. When the snow falls, it offers opportunity to slow down, rest and go within. Of course, not everybody is experiencing snow during this full moon and I am grateful for this special gift.

‘Honour yourself first, and you honour all those around you. When you honour another first, you honour no one.’

Hold positive thoughts and remain focused on your own truth during this full moon period. Try not to judge other people’s thoughts, actions or behaviour. The moon’s energies could draw you into drama, your own or others.  Simply observe and offer kindness where you can. Most importantly offer yourself kindness. What are circumstances revealing to you and what are your limitations? Your truth will reveal where you are in alignment and show you where you need to break free. Harness the Leo energy to follow your own passions.

If you are fortunate to have snow then know that this watery gift dampens the emotional fires and helps put some issues to rest. As the snow begins to thaw and the Snow Moon wanes, a new beginning presents itself.

Book Signing Event

I am pleased to announce that Waterstones Bookshop, Rose Lane, Canterbury will be hosting my book signing event on Thursday 16th February from 11 am to 4pm.

I will be reading 'Born To Love Frogs' and 'Oceans Calling' throughout the day in the Children's Book Section and look forward to meeting you.

For a chance to win tickets for a family day out, children can take part in an exciting colouring competition on the day. Winners will be announced on my website on Saturday 18th February.

Lunar New Year

The wonderful energies of the new moon on Monday 23rd January also bring Chinese New Year celebrations.

The Year of the Dragon is upon us and I find the spiritual aspects of this animal totem very auspicious in line with the cosmic energies for 2012. It is the most powerful of all the twelve Chinese totems and heralds new beginnings. It is symbolic of wisdom, courage, success and happiness. The dragon is also a potent symbol of abundance with the power to release water and bring relief to parched lands. Abundance is emotional, mental and spiritual energy working together to manifest on the physical plane.

So in what ways will humanity use power this year? Hopefully, heart will overcome ego. Inspired change is better than enforced change. Powerful cleansing water energy could bring more devastating floods, tsunamis etc created by humanity’s will to move forward through fear instead of love. Spiritual masters understand that our purpose is to create abundance in simple and peaceful ways.

‘In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans; in one aspect of you are found all the aspects of existence.’ – Rumi

Self mastery is the key to success this year as we each create our new world. Through solid dedicated inner and outer work, each of us has the ability to connect with our Earth and our truth and be shining beacons of light. Each person that awakens will touch and awaken others in their family and community creating great places of love, peace and understanding. 2012 will very much be a year for significant progress in creating peace. More communities will come together as a result of these changes. Financial systems will continue to change through fear although the loving change that is needed is already in their awareness and awaits their responsible action.

Hopefully, there will not be as many floods and catastrophes created by the human condition in 2012. Their force and can always be abated by love and to a degree are already abated by many loving present souls walking on this planet. It is up to each and every person to start creating more peace in their life on every level.

Take this new moon opportunity to light a candle and meditate upon power and what it means to you. Instigate plans to shift and change any areas of fear into love. Work with a teacher and healer if you need help. Be gentle and be powerful. Make 2012 the year you awaken to your own self mastery, creating greater inner peace, success and abundance.

Full Moon - Creating New Space

The moon will be full on Monday 9th January at approximately 07.30 GMT. This moon is known as the Wolf Moon or the Old Moon.

The energies of the full moon can always be harnessed to aid any letting go process and for cleansing. This full moon is in Cancer and places emotional emphasis on our home life, family and self-care. Although we are in winter, this is an excellent time to do some ‘spring cleaning’ of your home or some painting and decorating. A good clear out of any clutter or unwanted items is therapeutic to the soul. As we clear our surroundings and create new space, we clear ourselves of any negative energy and create new space within.

‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.’ - William Morris.

A full moon bath for your crystals on the eve of the full moon cleanses and energises them. I have been guided to place all of my crystals outside in the garden this month to cleanse them completely. The crystals are already within a sphere of light. This is a really auspicious time if you do work with crystals  to allow them to take a moon bath and with your own guidance and focused attention, bring in any new positive energies you need for the year ahead.

2012 is a year of change and working with crystals for cleansing, protection, healing and manifestation work will greatly assist you move gracefully through any challenges. Crystals connect us to Mother Earth and as things speed up, they are a useful tool for grounding work and balance. The crystal elementals will work with you to help manifest your dreams..

Happy New Year!

May 2012 bring you many opportunities to experience yourself as a master allowing abundance to flow through all aspects of your life.

May you remember every day that you are a WONDERFUL unique human being with a courageous loving heart who is loved by many.

May your days be blessed with fun, laughter and happiness.

May your beautiful light and love shine brightly into the world bringing blessings to all.

Best wishes for a very happy, peaceful and abundant 2012.

Winter Solstice and New Beginnings

Our ancestors worked with the seasons. The cold winter months were a time to retreat, rest and conserve energy. In our modern world, we have become accustomed to continuing with a similar rate of energy output to that of the lighter sunnier months. However, our body does have a natural rhythm which still continues to work with the seasons and cosmic cycles; it does require more rest and less output during the colder darker months, regardless of modern comforts and technology.

If possible, try to spend some time outside every day by taking a refreshing walk in nature. Enjoy the sun when it does shine, it is the source of Vitamin D production for the body. Try to retire earlier in the evenings and if possible, rise with the sun. Eating wholesome grounding foods such as oats, potatoes, root vegetables and pulses provide good sustenance at this time of year. Enjoy drinking warm healthy herbal teas to gently cleanse and support your body, which along with Echinacea supplements, offer a good extra boost to your immune system and natural defences.

My Golden Sun Essence carries the vibration of summer sunlight. It was co-created on the Summer Solstice and cleanses the aura, filling the energetic system with golden light, whilst uplifting the emotions so one can more easily experience joy which is the much needed emotion to combat SAD. It is also a powerful Essence for transition and as we are now about to transition into a new solar cycle, this is an opportune time to allow its energy to work with you.

Winter Solstice on 22nd December is the end of a solar cycle. This is a good time to deepen your connection to spirit and find time for quiet inner reflection to look back on the year and celebrate all successes, while making plans for the year ahead.

Although representing the official beginning to our winter season, each day after the 22nd will offer us a little bit more daylight and begin nature’s renewal as we head towards the spring. Celebrate on Winter Solstice by affirming connection to your own power and nature, enjoying all its joyous reflections. Creating a festive wreath from greenery collected on a first winter walk and lighting a candle to represent the returning sun is a wonderful way to celebrate.

As one cycle ends and a new one begins, we enter into the Christmas season. With so many people around the globe celebrating Christ in Union at this special time, the Universe will respond by bathing us all with more Christ light to add to our celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who has worked with my new healing Essences this year and provided such wonderful feedback, thank you to the children I have taught who taught me so much more, thank you to those who have shared my books with their children, and thank you to those Earth Angels who chose me to work with them on their journey. You have all truly been an inspiration to me.

May you all enjoy a very Happy Christmas and be blessed with peace, joy and abundance in 2012.

Healing Walks In Nature

I feel very grateful every day for my work with the Earth. My work with Soul Star Essence has been a revelation to me as to its power and ability to hold a person's heart in a loving safe place, allowing them to let go of pain and disappointment easily. I have seen people transform their mood and outlook in front of my eyes after taking a few drops. They become light-hearted and focused.

I have been guiding people on healing nature walks for some time. I am now offering this service with the light of Soul Star Essence as it allows a client to connect within easily, become aware of their issues quickly, allowing the answers to pore forth.

I offer this service also to people who just simply need to get back to nature, to reconnect and find themselves again. It is too easy for people to forget the Earth that sustains and supports life. Nature heals and she is waiting with open arms.

If you are interested in working with Soul Star Essence in the presence of nature, then please read the Page in my Therapies section for more information.

Autumn Fun

It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the woods this weekend in the autumn sunshine. The 'Autumn Fun' page in the 'Words and Pictures' section gives some ideas for family games and activities to enjoy on your next woodland visit.

Hunter's Moon

Yesterday I spent a short time at the coast. I have been working long hours on a few projects, like a lot of mums, around my family and other work commitments. I find that a quiet stroll along the beach blows away the cobwebs and revitalises.

It was warm yesterday but there was a strong wind. It was high tide and the waves were large and crashing up over the small promenade. One lonely surfer was out on his surfboard braving the water, undeterred when he fell, getting straight back up on his board time and time again. As I watched the waves, I could feel the energies which have been building with this coming full moon known as the Hunter's Moon. The moon will be full early tomorrow morning, the 12th, at around 02.20 GMT. If you are sensitive to the lunar energies, then you can probably feel that this moon has a particularly fiery aspect, being in Aries. Although giving potential for dynamic action, unless the energy is utilised positively, it can have the reverse effect. So it is a good time to be extra kind to yourself and others, mindful of this moon's influence.

I blessed the sea and my drinking water, giving thanks for rejuvination and the opportunity for some spiritual solitude, before returning to my desk inspired and focused.

Roman Water Shrine

I recently contributed a copy of both my books to a Charity Auction and was invited to the Event in Bristol. It was a fun evening where many different businesses and people offered their services and products, amounting to over sixty Lots on the night. The auction raised over £2,500 with all funds going to a Charity Foundation – it was a really good way to raise money and awareness!

On our journey back across the UK to Kent, we took the opportunity to visit Chedworth Roman Villa in the Cotswolds. We had visited it 20 years ago and my main recollection was that it was set in a peaceful wood or combe, as it is called. The weather was spectacular - we drove through monsoon like rain and then bright sunshine with rainbow after rainbow painting the sky.

The Villa was as we had remembered, but part of it was under canvas, being prepared for a grand opening next year. Nevertheless, this place has an ambience of peace that has stood the test of time and if it was all completely covered in canvas, this feeling would still permeate. The surrounding countryside simply rolls and each undulation is patterned with fields and small woods. The birds were singing sweetly and the air was warm and moist. I know that trees do give a unique feel to an area but there was more to it than this, I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it at first.

We quietly walked amongst the ruins and the wildlife, admiring mosaics and hypercausts until we came across a Roman Water Shrine situated in a far corner of the site. This is where I found the energy I could sense. The Shrine is still fully intact and the water runs from a natural spring through a 4th century stone channel, having never dried up. The Romans would worship the Goddess (Nymph) of the Spring and it has been used for worshipping water for 1600 years. The Romans had a close connection to water and I feel they understood its great importance. Their bathing rituals certainly seemed very ceremonial and give evidence to support a deep knowledge about water, the body, spirit and the cosmos! This Shrine stands on its own carrying quite subtle but magnificent healing energies. The tranquillity of this area was wonderful and very rejuvenating. We lingered for a long while, whilst the sun shone.

Equinox

Last week I visited the Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire. The stones are made from limestone which has eroded over the centuries giving each stone personality and presence. The main circle is called the King’s Men and is a similar design to some circles in the Lake District like Long Meg. The Whispering Knights is a burial chamber standing in an adjacent field whilst the main stone known as The King’s Stone, is situated in a neighbouring field and stands looking far across the countryside in quiet contemplation. This was a very tranquil place to just sit and be.

Walking the inner circumference of the King's Men circle which has such peaceful energy, brought my awareness to the cycle of the seasons. The autumnal equinox which occurred yesterday is the day when light and darkness are of equal lengths. As I sat by the largest stone, I felt the balance that an equinox offers. It was a great opportunity to take time to rest for a while and feel my own inner balance. For all, this is the perfect moment to reflect on work done - both inner and outer work. As we move slowly now towards shorter days in the Northern Hemisphere, a natural slowing down process occurs after the busier longer days of summer. I am finding this to be a special time to remember and celebrate all achieved since the vernal equinox and rejuvenate, whilst I make plans for the autumn and winter.

I collected some small fir cones from the site to begin our autumn table at home and to offer a reminder of those wonderful Rollright energies throughout this coming season.

Many blessings for a peaceful autumn.

Sunflowers

The sunflowers that my children planted earlier in the year are now in full bloom and I have added a photograph of one of them to the Mother Nature’s Magic page. I have also added some more photographs to the Gallery.

Sunflowers are very special to me. Twelve years ago I lost a baby boy at birth. We had planted sunflowers for the first time that year in the garden right by the window.  I hardly noticed the enormous blooms or the garden on my return from hospital but after a couple of weeks the colour and majesty of the flowers called to me and they beamed brighter every day. They are a joyful happy flower and brought my awareness back to nature and to the extra healing I needed and found in the garden. I dried one of the sunflowers that grew that year and still have it in a keepsake box, with other memories of the little soul who was with us for a short time but brought so much love and teaching about eternal life.

Sunflowers seem to shout abundance also, of the abundance to be found in nature at this time of year. The fields are being harvested and the trees are laden with fruit and berries. Tomorrow, the 12th, we bear witness to a full moon known as a Harvest Moon or Singing Moon. The full moon nearest to the Autumnal Equinox is always known as the Harvest Moon. It appears large and bright in the early evening giving extra precious light hours to farmers working in the fields. This is a wonderful time to begin to let go of the summer months that have embraced us with warmth, growth and energy. An opportunity to gather our awareness about seasonal transition and look forward to an abundant Autumn.

Golden Sun Essence

I was given initial guidance about Golden Sun Essence on an exhilarating cliff top walk in early May. As I wrote some notes, I noticed that the bushes around me where I had stopped to sit and rest during my walk, were filled with butterfly cocoons and some caterpillars were already on the leaves. I knew it would be an Essence of change and the winds of change did blow as it came into being early on solstice morning, 21st June.

All too easily we can fall back into old ways when the fear of change clouds our way. This Essence’s signature is Joy and particularly the joy of change. Not only will it help you let go more easily and embrace the new, but also maintain clarity needed by keeping your aura cleansed and your mind focused on the truth of your heart. Joy will lead the way.

The crystals that assisted in this co-creation were Sunstone and clear Quartz which are a lovely combination, their qualities uplift and bring clarity. The Sunstone is carved in the shape of a laughing Buddha and this Joy permeates the Essence. This is one of my favourite crystals and just to look at this Buddha brings a smile.

The Essence is particularly beneficial for treating SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as it embraces your being with the regenerative power of the sun, similar to light therapy. It also aids acclimatization to seasonal changes, e.g. transitioning from summer into autumn.

Three tiny petals blew into the spring water as it was being energised and I noticed that they immediately began to flow in a fairly fast circular current around the crystals placed in the centre of the glass bowl. I place the crystals and water in an energy vortex when making Essences and so it was wonderful to actually watch this energy physically move the water and petals during the solarization process.

This Essence has brought a feeling of happiness and smiles to all who have worked with it so far. I love using it upon waking as it clears my energy system fairly quickly and uplifts emotions helping remove tiredness, similar to having a cleansing and rejuvinating shower whilst still in bed. I follow this with a real shower then a herbal tea and vitamin packed breakfast for a great start to the day. Feedback from all clients who have worked with this Essence say they feel its magic and effect quite quickly - it truly is a little bottle of sunshine.

Late Summer

We enjoyed higher than average temperatures over the Easter period through April, it was as if summer had arrived early. Now, we do have the usual aroma in the air that enfolds us in late summer. The dew is staying for longer on the grass in the morning as the sun bathes us in a rich golden light. However, I do sense that the trees are changing a little quicker this year. I have a Cherry Blossom tree in my garden and every leaf has been completely red for a couple of weeks, ready to fall. Perhaps due to an early season this year or maybe its the lack of rainfall we have had in South East England over the summer.

We have a communal orchard in our village and have been enjoying harvesting apples for eating and baking delicious cooking apples which have been wonderful mixed with large juicy blackberries from the garden and woods. I have also sown more lettuce leaves in the hope of a late crop.

Last autumn I watched a large Beech tree change through late summer and wrote of its transformations here, which came quickly. Even though the sun was still warm yet mellow in early October, the tree did completely lose its leaves within three days of me writing about the changes I could sense in nature and energies at that time. We have some weeks to go before the Autumnal Equinox on 23rd September and this is just a gentle reminder to enjoy the last of these long summer days and the sunshine.

On 29th August we are also under the influence of a New Moon which is in Virgo. A New Moon is always a good time for a fresh start and making positive intentions. This moon's energy is abundance orientated and coincides with a Bank Holiday in England giving us extra time to spend with family, friends and making New Moon wishes.

Thank you

Thank you to all who attended our Author and Illustrator event. Pam and myself both enjoyed meeting all the parents and children - it was great fun.

We had good feedback both from the forms that were kindly completed after each session and by word of mouth, so much so that we have been asked by Wildwood to host another event in the middle of February half term next year which will be open to members and their families.

A big thank you also to Peter, Anne and all the staff at Wildwood who helped make the day a great success.

Dynamic New Moon

The New Moon in Leo will be upon us on Saturday 30th July. As Universally we are currently in a place of new beginnings, the energy of this lunar phase is powerful and dynamic.

For everyone with desires and dreams, there will be increased energy available to harness and use to begin those new endeavours that you may have struggled with previously. There is opportunity for breakthroughs both minor and major in all areas of life but particularly with regard to theories, inventions, ideas, understandings and wisdom for this new era. An exciting time for everyone!

My White Magnolia Flower Essence is aligned with new beginnings. It shines its light into your positive intentions and actions creating a sacred space when you want something new and improved in your life, bringing support and inner power to aid manifestation. A handy powerful friend that works wonders! Sometimes the smallest actions bring the biggest results.

July's Full Moon

The moon will be full on Friday 15th July at approximately 06.22 GMT. This moon is in the sign of Capricorn and is the first full moon since the trilogy of eclipses.

The recent energies that have passed through our lives and continue to at this time have brought many issues to the fore, particularly if we were pushing them aside thinking we could deal with them at a later date. Many people I know, especially those on a spiritual path have endured difficult circumstances or found themselves at a crossroads. This has left many dealing with feelings of anger or frustration as the light pushes up these issues to be looked at and healed.

The most important guidance I have as we dance into the full moon's energies this month is simply 'What if...?' Use these words to uplift and empower yourself in any aspect of life that needs your extra attention and action right now. As you release the old, remembering that it once served you well, think of all the new possibilities that your beautiful self can experience. Bless all that still serves you as you let go. I spend some time every morning ensuring my energies are in alignment by blessing all people and situations in my life. I call in from the Universe those in light I wish to work with each day and send my grateful thanks and love out to the world. For me, nature speaks and I listen, really listen. I am blessed with the ability to step into that place where I am given knowledge. There are often many choices presented so with this in mind, set your intention on your desired goal and then take the path which makes your heart sing.

On a physical level, remember to drink plenty of water to flush away impurities and assist your body's natural cleansing mechanisms. A couple of evenings ago I cut nettles from my garden and made a refreshing tea to help cleanse and support my body. As I conducted my tea ceremony, I burnt candles during dusk, enjoying and connecting with the nature around me. Hoping that the weather is fair on Friday evening, I intend to spend quality time in my garden again witnessing this summer moon in all its glory. Many blessings.

Moonstone Essence

As the Universe enters into a period of new beginnings, this is a wonderful opportunity to introduce Moonstone Essence which was co-created on 17th May at the time of the full moon.

My journeys into the consciousness of nature and spirit are shamanic and spirit always sends me signs on these journeys. During the co-creation of the Moonstone Essence, I was guided to stand by my pond and as I did, I immediately saw a grass snake lying on a lily pad. It looked at me before it slithered into the water. I have never seen a grass snake in my pond before and it was presented to me at the time as a water snake. The May full moon was in Scorpio which is a water sign and is attuned to the cycles of birth and rebirth. Water snake and Scorpio are connected in this respect. Water snake spoke of the power of creation, sexuality and the soul. It is a totem of transition, of shedding the past, rebirth and making change for the future. All of these qualities are present in this new Moonstone Essence.

The Moonstone Essence has been created solely for women and relates to our connection to the moon, to the physical menstrual cycle and sexuality. It has a very earthy feel to it. Many women I have spoken to recently seem to have trouble connecting to their monthly cycles, labelling them as ‘a curse.’ It is a disconnection from their truth which lends itself to this belief, when in reality the monthly shedding of blood is a gift of creation and great power. Goddess Diana’s energies are most apparent in this Essence and I was also made aware of Quan Yin bringing the beautiful energies of self-compassion and acceptance to the overall signature of the Mother Essence.

The Moonstone Essence has a very grounding physical effect as it works with the lower chakras, the base and particularly, the sacral. The Magnolia Flower Essence works with the heart centre. Both Essences can be worked with simultaneously to great effect. Please remember that your Higher Self will always utilise the energies of the Essences for your individual requirements at the time.

Summer Solstice

The longest day of the year is nearly upon us again. The word Solstice is derived from the Latin words Sol meaning ‘sun’ and Sistere meaning ‘to stand still’. On 21st June, the movement of the sun’s path will come to a standstill before reversing direction.

Every year, Druids gather at Stonehenge to witness the sun rising and bathing its light over the central Altar stone, aligning with the Heel stone and the Slaughter stone. Historians and New Age theorists differ in their opinion about the original purpose of Stonehenge. The theories range from a large stone calendar and a temple for burials to an intergalactic portal. Whatever the original purpose, it certainly seems to be connected to the sun and seasonal cycles. It's wonderful that Pagans still celebrate the first day of summer in this way.

I once joined a group of British and German lightworkers, about 12 of us in all, for a dawn ceremony at Stonehenge. It was the middle of spring and still pretty chilly early in the morning. When we arrived there, it was still dark but the sky was clear and by the time the caretaker had taken us over to the site, the sky was beginning to lighten. It was quiet and the stones stood with such a powerful presence. The energy inside the circle as the sun rose was magnificent, almost primordial. One of the members of the group beat a drum which evoked ancient memories of ceremony and connection. To stand in such an ancient place with the smell of the damp earth and the feel of the first welcoming rays of the warmth from the sun was an evocative experience that touched me deeply. I am certain that the energy must be different with about 30,000 people in attendance at dawn, but still a memorable experience none the less. I think I prefer the quieter version!

One of the most beautiful (and also scary) experiences of witnessing the dawn was when I walked through a wood by myself in the night and then sat by a very old tree to watch the sun rise over the fields. It is definitely worth experiencing a woodland walk at night as it heightens the senses, connects you to the very soul of the Earth and to All That Is.

However you choose to spend this special time of year, may your summer be blessed with fruitfulness and abundance.

In Tune with the Moon

The energy of the moon moves the oceans and creates the tides. This energy can also be felt within us because our bodies carry a high water content and are also affected by the moon’s cycle. Around the time of the full moon, emotions may be stirred or intensified. Aches and pains in the body are a sign of an issue releasing itself or trying to, so that body, mind and spirit can find balance again.

The Full moon for June will be on Wednesday, 15th at 20.11 GMT/21.11 BST. This month we will also be under the influence of a total lunar eclipse which will be visible in many parts of the world, including the UK. This is the first eclipse of 2011, the last one being in December 2010.

Eclipses prompt emotional change and you may notice a difference in your temperament or behaviour. You may be more sensitive to other people’s behaviour. Take time to observe yourself, the way you respond to others, the way in which you speak to yourself. Capitalize upon this time and if negative emotions arise then embrace them - have courage to face your ego and notice how it limits you. Use the negative to create the positive and promote growth.

We are here in this realm of existence to express ourselves. What are you expressing and why?

Are you mostly expressing love, joy and courage with some aspects of negativity/fear?

Are you mostly expressing fear, sadness and doubt with some aspects of positivity/happiness?

Many people unknowingly become stuck in a negative response to life. Change is necessary for a continual flow of peace, fulfilment and abundance. When you constantly work on raising your energetic vibration then opportunities present themselves for you to truly know and feel greater happiness.

Take some time to tune into the moon this month, go within and be receptive to change.

New Moon

I am in a slipstream of creativity as the moon dances its way towards being new on 1st June. During this New Moon, we will also bear witness to the energies of a partial solar eclipse, the second of 2011.

Yesterday I was fortunate to see a Jay sitting on the garden fence close to the window, a rare sight in my garden. Today, during a walk in the woods, a Jay flew across the path. The Jay signifies new opportunity, as does the New Moon. As we also have an eclipse occurring, a gateway of energy is available, sacred and transformative. If you are creative then use this wonderful time to explore your talents and gifts more deeply and find new ways to communicate your truth. These energies bring the possibility of hidden creative gifts rising into people’s awareness to be utilised. Just pick up the pen, paint brush, instrument or computer keyboard and let it flow. Express yourself and enjoy!

I will be spending this coming week in North Wales throughout the New Moon energies, visiting sacred sites and the mountains. Wales like most of the UK is scattered with many ancient standing stones which hold wisdom for all who have respect and patience to connect with their energies.

I have visited many sacred sites over the years and I never have any expectations as to what will be revealed, if anything. I know that what is given is always divinely timed and serves a purpose. Sometimes I have been given instant information and understood its meaning. At other times, there has been a download of information which has been too much for me to wade through in one go (or two goes!) and comes together like a jigsaw puzzle over time.

Nature plays its important part in my journeys, giving me signs and confirmation. Some years ago I was immersed in an energetic clearing ceremony, working alone, on an island in Wales. Suddenly a raven flew to stand where I was working and squawked loudly at me for the duration of the ceremony. It was very amusing for the people who were unaware and passing by. I had worked with crow energy previously and still do, to transmute energies for people during a healing session, but never a raven. Animals and birds are totems that teach and give messages. The raven is a creator who shares secrets and truth and in this case was a harbinger of light for the work that was already underway. It was an amazing experience that I had that day with my feathered co-worker.

World of Wonder

May – my favourite month of the year. Mostly because the trees are full of new leaves that change from a tender green to their deeper colours as the month progresses. This year we have had such warm conditions since April in the UK that there is a look of late June to nature already. Here in the South East, the grass in the gardens and verges has turned yellow due to lack of rain.

My family have been busy planting flower and vegetable seeds. My two youngest children are very much a part of their natural environment and outdoor play is a virtual constant. They love to be involved in the creative process that the garden offers - it is their ‘world of wonder.’ This year they have planted sunflowers from seed in small pots, watered them and watched them grow into seedlings. They have helped prepare the soil in the flower bed and planted the seedlings, knowing that as they water and care for these plants, they are helping to yield enormous sunflowers later in the summer. Wild flower seeds have also been sown randomly between garden shrubs and lettuce seeds planted ready for harvesting for their salads.

My son has built a den within a large conifer where there is a natural ‘living room’. He has furnished it with an old piece of carpet and lamps with candles for evening play. We are fortunate to live very close to the ancient Blean Woods which is home to some of the oldest Oaks in the country. My son found a branch shaped like a staff in the wood three years ago whilst we were out on a walk. Each time we visit the woods, he reclaims his staff from the group of trees who care for it in between visits. It is always there waiting and it is a magical connection for him.

Even if there is no garden available, then a window box or pot is an easy and fun way to introduce planting seeds and flowers. Allow children to have the responsibility of caring for the plants whilst they watch them grow. Planting seeds can be treated as a ceremony. Everything we do in nature with positive intention has a wider effect on the world around us. Planting seeds with our own wishes for abundance for the world, will make it so. Sharing nature with children and nurturing their connection helps them to stay ‘awake’ and connected to their truth. They are more aware of ‘reality’ instead of the illusory thinking of TV and computer games. Although sometimes fun, these things are best kept in moderation so they can cultivate their own precious imaginations and be children.

In the ‘Words and Pictures’ section I have written a poem called’ Mother Nature’s Magic,’ inspired by the simple pleasure of sharing the garden with children. Please share it with your own children - it is dedicated to them.

My hope is that more adults awaken now and remember. One of our responsibilities is to nurture the innate truth and wisdom that children have brought to the Earth, helping them to become guardians of this beautiful planet. The world is in their hands.

Climate Fair

The weather, although a little breezy, stayed dry for the Climate Fair at the weekend which was a great success in raising people's awareness. I met lots of interesting people and there was a good community spirit in which knowledge was shared and new friendships made.

A big thank you to Sue, Laura and Bryony for their help with my book sales and for teaching me the finer details of the Wildwood Trust so I could share these with the public!

Canterbury Climate and Fair Trade Market

I will be signing copies of my books on Saturday and Sunday 14th, 15th May at the Canterbury Climate Fair organised by Greenpeace. The fair is held to raise awareness of environmental issues and give a positive environmental message.

I will be joining The Wildwood Trust team on their stand. The Wildwood Trust is a native wildlife conservation charity involved in important work for the preservation of the UK's most endangered species.

If you live locally, please come along and support the Fair in St George's Street/The Parade from 9 am - 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Buddha Full Moon

Wesak is a global celebration which celebrates the life of the Buddha and in particular his enlightenment as he sat under the Bodhi tree. It is said that as he sat in meditation, he received deep insight and knowledge. He witnessed the thousands of previous lives he had lived and saw how beings were subject to cause and effect or karma. He was able to perceive how beings passed into other planes of existence before beginning life anew in the cycle of rebirth. He understood that with all human cravings eliminated, suffering ceases to be, and the mind is completely liberated. He then attained full enlightenment.

Wesak is always celebrated on the full moon in May which this year is on the 17th at 11.l0 (GMT). It is a powerful moon which lends itself to this vast celebration, where in the East in countries like India, it is a holiday.

With an increase in the mass consciousness of ‘good will’, we can choose to connect with others at this time in celebration. Remember also to take the opportunity to open to the moon’s energies within your own personal space and let go of any current personal issues, some of which may be past life connected, so that you can more readily feel your inner peace. Take this quiet time to align your thoughts and feelings with divine right action in your life, allowing this energy to powerfully bless all your projects and relationships.

Allow yourself if possible to walk barefoot on the Earth for a while during this full moon. It is a very powerful sensation as you connect this way both to the Earth Mother’s energy and to the feminine energies of the moon. Take time to bless the Earth and give thanks to her for sustaining the being you are in this present incarnation. As you feel an increase of inner peace and joy, offer these qualities out to the world.

During this special personal time, be open to the wise loving insights that arise within to guide you, like the Buddha, on your own journey to enlightenment. Happy Wesak!

Crystal and Flower Essences

In spring 2010, when the Magnolia tree in my garden was in full flower, I channelled interesting information about new beginnings, clarity and blossoming of projects. I wanted to make an essence at this point but knew that there was more information for me that I would be able to access at a later date. With divine timing and patience, this spring I have been able to connect at a deep level with the tree and its blossom. I have been given wonderful information about the Divine Feminine which is the signature to the beautiful essence that I have co-created. It is a powerful essence, deeply feminine in its qualities but also very suitable for men who are ready to integrate and work with the Divine Feminine within.

I have also co-created a Rose Quartz Crystal essence. Rose Quartz is an amazing healer for the heart and is probably the most important crystal for the heart and the heart chakra. The essence imbues you with its qualities of unconditional love and peace, qualities I felt very deeply when I connected with the energy of the crystal to channel the signature for the mother essence.

More details about both essences are now on the website and they are available to buy through the 'Shop' if you wish to work with them. I am guided to co-create more essences in the future and look forward to sharing them with you.

Celebrating Easter With Children

Easter is a time for rebirth and the celebration of new life all around us as the trees come into leaf once more, as the spring flowers add their colour to our environment, as the days become longer, and as the weather becomes warmer.

Easter is both a Christian and a Pagan celebration with the ancient Anglo-Saxon Goddess Eastre or Ostara giving her name to this festival. She represents rebirth, fertility, and the bringing of a new dawn. Also, we celebrate the resurrection of Christ at this time.

My six year old daughter was recently told the story of the crucifixion of Christ at school. She was horrified, as she doesn’t yet have the ability at her age to understand the story’s spiritual context. Her expression was similar to “why was I told this story about a man being killed in this terrible way?” and “why am I supposed to be celebrating this?” Good point! She revealed a very important message and understanding to me - that this is probably a truth for most young children regardless of their religious/spiritual background. From a young child’s perspective, the Easter story can be frightening and confusing. In fact if we viewed this physical event happening today, then it definitely has an ‘18 certificate’ attached to it. Even with the miracle of resurrection and some spiritual understanding, we would probably not want to discuss the darker physical aspects of this event with children.

Although I am not religious, my spiritual understanding as an adult, is that a man named Jesus did walk this Earth performing miracles, bringing great teachings, and did die on a cross to be resurrected. However I find myself at odds with how this story is offered to children for their consideration. There is a need for a greater understanding of what is sensible and responsible in our retelling of the scriptures with young children - very often simple symbolism is sufficient. I know my daughter will understand the story when she is older but until then she is happy with chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies.

The egg is a symbolism of new life and has always been used to represent spring festivals, life and love. My family exchange chocolate eggs at Easter and every year I hide eggs and bunnies in the garden for my children to find. Dyeing eggs with children is also a fun activity and baking Easter biscuits. My son made a small stone labyrinth last year in the garden which always has an offering in its centre, like a leaf or feather, and over Easter it will have an egg. Children also love Easter egg hunts and trails. A couple of days ago we went on an Easter egg trail, which had a wildlife theme and offered a fun way to celebrate new life at Easter with children.

However we celebrate this wonderful time of the year, it is the remembrance of our interconnectedness and sharing our love, life and joy that is most important.

Many blessings for a wonderful Easter!

Words & Pictures

Words & Pictures is a new section of my website with meditations, poetry and pictures for children to enjoy.

If you and your children are new to guided visualisations then they are very much the same as a story, read out loud, but with a slower rhythm and regular pauses giving time for the child to visualise and speak if they wish. Sometimes I play relaxing music in the background as well. Your child may want to share their experiences at the end where they can often reveal  their hidden truths.

Have fun!

Mother's Day

I am sure that I speak for mothers everywhere when I say that the memories of holding our children for the first time are amongst our most special. There is a heightened awarenesss of spirit during pregnancy as we nurture the new life growing within us. During labour with my youngest daughter, I spent much of the time in meditation with her and my guides, resulting in a relatively pain free and wonderful birth for us both. I had experienced difficult births previously, had learned a lot and was grateful to have the opportunity to experience childbirth again more naturally in tune with my body, mind, emotions and spirit.

The mother and child relationship is a gift to cherish throughout life, as we grow together through all of our experiences. This is a lovely poem by an unknown author which eloquently celebrates motherhood.

Her love is like an island
In life's ocean, vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a haven there.

Happy Mother's Day!

March's Full Moon

A BIG moon tonight which has been pulling at our energies for the past week, enabling us to look at what is negative in our lives or the lives of others so we can have courage to acknowledge, accept and dissolve it by walking through the next open door into something better. We need to co-operate to co-create so keep moving with what makes your heart sing as you will definitely be going in the right direction.

Now we are on the cusp of the Spring season, it is beneficial to look at the past Winter diet that has sustained you and modify it to fit with the new lighter vibrations of the coming season. The weather is warming and nature is beckoning us to increase the time we spend outside now, which for me is every available opportunity! Many blessings for a wonderful Spring.

Gifts from the Universe

I attended a Charity Dinner in Greenwich on Friday night which was being held to raise money for the Medical Foundation (to help those who have suffered from torture) and John McCarthy was the guest speaker.

I was called to do some energy healing work. There was a lot happening on different levels, including energy at the venue itself, which was the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College. It is a beautiful hall, said to be finest dining hall in the Western world. I felt like I had walked into a palace. It has ornately decorated walls and an amazing ceiling which depicts the triumph of peace and liberty over tyranny- a very apt setting for the evening. There was a beautiful angelic presence.

As I opened up, I began to channel information for myself about an event I thought I wouldn’t be able to attend in the future because of the timing. Spirit kept the pressure on and once I accepted I needed to do it anyway, the Universe started to remove the blocks providing options and paving the way. Whilst this was happening, someone was energetically knocking on my door for light. I am always very pleased to help but I am also aware that there has to be an energy exchange of some sort when I do this work.  I wasn’t having a conversation with the person concerned which made this difficult but with trust I assisted. The energies were high and the light was tangible and transformational in the hall.  I facilitated and watched it unfold.

Although all the people gathered were sitting together in opulent surroundings and eating wonderful food, there was a definite sense of gratitude and understanding.  I am sure that during the five years John spent in captivity wondering if he would physically survive his ordeal, he never envisaged he would be doing what he does now to help others overcome similar plights.  No matter what, we are always where we need to be!

At the end of the speeches, the raffle took place. The first person chosen was a lady sitting at my table. The box with the tickets was taken to her and as her hand searched for the next winner, I was drawn to look at a man on the far table with his back to me. The lady drew his ticket and that same man then drew my winning ticket, which turned out to be the top prize. I smiled, thanking the Universe for the energy exchange which sometimes comes in unexpected ways. I have decided to sell the prize and put the money towards the event I promised myself I will attend in the future. I am grateful for the guidance and support I was given and for the opportunity to help others.

It’s wonderful to be reminded that we live in a bountiful Universe and we are always exactly where we need to be!

Frog Medicine

The weather is warmer now and the frogs in my pond have woken up after the long winter ready to create lots of frog spawn. I have lots of fish in the pond who like to nibble at the tadpoles so every year I have to make nurseries for them so they have a chance to develop before I put them back into the pond. Last Summer, when the tadpoles had grown into little frogs, I was lying at the end of my garden on the grass and I watched a small frog hop down the path towards me. He hopped across the grass and stopped right in front of me which is very unusual because they are shy creatures but this one was very inquisitive. We were quietly eye to eye, for about five minutes before he hopped away.

Frogs are cleansers in the Shamanic world and healers like myself carry Frog energy which is having the ability to cleanse negativity and replace it with something better. During healing, negative emotions can often reveal themselves. Beyond these feelings there is joy and love which push the heavier emotions to the surface for healing. Joy is the feeling we have when we are in alignment with our sense of self, our purpose and connection to the Divine.

Very often during healing work I have to laugh to release energies. Laughter is an important tool for raising energetic levels. I was once healing a lady and started to spontaneously laugh when I reached her heart chakra. She started laughing also whilst talking about a sad situation that she needed to release as this was her preferred method of dealing with the energies. I have received healing myself where this has happened. This isn't a disrespectful approach to difficulties, it can be a quick and effective way to bring healing assistance, obviously bearing in mind the severity of the situation that is presented. I have read that the Dalai Lama visited the remains of a German concentration camp, stood amongst the dark energies and laughed. What incredible service!

Laughter is transmutational. The power of laughter far outweighs anger, grief or any other negative emotion. It brings happiness which is our natural state of being and when offered to another, returns to us tenfold. I thank the little frog who last Summer brought me his messages, gratitude and happiness and look forward to meeting the new frogs in my pond this year.

February's Full Moon

During the time of the last full moon I was given a lot of guidance which has served well over the last month. During January and February there have been intense energies facilitating planetary and physical cleansing. The terrible events in Australia highlight the amount of purification that is happening at this time. A friend in Australia contacted me to assist a group of lightworkers in holding positive intentions of a level 3 cyclone at 3 am (low tide), which I did. I was immediately given guidance that thankfully no human life would be lost in what turned out to be a level 5 cyclone. I know that through this turmoil and upheavel, including the more recent transmutational fires, a shift of consciousness has occurred which will become more apparent in time for both individuals and the nation. Many changes are taking place and it is important to maintain a positive mindset during these changes.

When negativity rises and turmoil and chaos are experienced, the light has brought the issue to the surface as a catalyst for change. Each bold step we take to bring about change brings us closer to the God within ourselves. These steps sometimes mean we have to make difficult decisions to leave behind people, places, attitudes and behaviours that once fitted our picture. But by doing so, we free ourselves to make new connections that resonate with our being, bringing greater peace and joy to our lives and the lives of others. It is difficult when relationships end but always bless all who have walked the path with you as they have served you as you have served them.

February's full moon on Friday 18th brings a time of completion with a realignment of our energies. There will be an ongoing natural impetus for changing anything that does not serve. Communication is highlighted with more doors opening, rich in new opportunities on many levels. Just trust that they are there because they are, be brave and walk through. Most of all be positive, enjoy being the new you and keep on dancing!

New Moon

On Thursday, 3rd February it will be a New Moon coinciding with the Chinese New Year. The Chinese calendar is based on the phases of the moon. A New Moon is a good time to harness the growing energy which comes with a new beginning.

This first moon of 2011 ushers in the Year of the Rabbit which is the most fortunate of the animal signs. This year is a metal rabbit or golden rabbit which brings peace and positivity amidst perceived turmoil. The essence of the rabbit also originates from the moon and will offer an ever present conscious reminder of our connection to the moon cycles, feminine wisdom, the seasons and Mother Earth.  These connections are important for us during these great times of change and transformation, keeping our feet firmly on the ground whilst we reach for the stars.

Burns' Night

Sense, worth and honesty are central themes in Burns’ poetry.  This a wonderful poem, with depth and truth.

The Golden Age we will then revive:
Each man will be a brother;
In harmony we all shall live,
And share the earth together;
In Virtue trained, enlightened Youth
Will love each fellow-creature;
And future years shall prove the truth
That Man is good by nature:
Then let us toast with three times three
The reign of Peace and Liberty!

(from ‘Why should we idly waste our prime’)

Full Circle

I am putting the finishing touches to a guided meditation for girls, based on 'Oceans Calling,' which will be going in a 'Talking Book' this year. 'Oceans Calling' actually started as three separate meditations which I wrote for my children based around mermaids, crystals and dolphins.  I put all the ideas from these meditations together for the story and it is interesting that I am now turning the story into a meditation. My children particulary like the  visualisation of colour around the crystals which relate to the chakra system and emotions.

Many things seem to go full circle, sometimes quickly and sometimes taking many years and needing reflection to properly identify. We live amidst cycles, some of which are beautiful and necessary for life such as the seasons but some cycles occur to teach us about ourselves. They offer healing and change such as repeated  behaviours or emotions to situations in our life. When we can identify and break cycles such as these, it sets in motion a new way forward. Very often a repeated physical ailment is the result of a repeated negative emotional response to life which will reoccur until the cycle is broken through identification, healing and finding a new response or approach.  I try to honour all the cycles of life for the gifts they bring which may sometimes be difficult but are always rich with opportunity for growth and renewal.
